Scorpio Full Moon & Pluto station: A Deep Dive into the Depths

"This being human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,

some momentary awareness comes

as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,

who violently sweep your house

empty of its furniture,

still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out

for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.

meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.

because each has been sent

as a guide from beyond.

(Rumi)

This Full Moon cycle's intensity cannot be underestimated. As Rumi so beautifully writes, our houses are likely to be visited and intruded upon by many guests. This lunation started with an intense Plutonian energy on 4/12 at the Aries New Moon. It is now blooming in Scorpio, the most passionate and profound sign of all, while opposing the Sun, Uranus, Venus, and Mercury in Taurus. The Moon is also close to the Earth, appearing large and affecting tides more significantly than usual. Mostly, Scorpio's ruler, Pluto, is stationing retrograde on Tuesday. The charge of these days is heightened as the Moon will be exactly triggering the ongoing square of Saturn and Uranus. These two powerful archetypes are entangled in revolutionary and evolutionary conflicts that manifest with sweeping winds of changes in values, ideas, and ideals showing up in our lives and our world.

Scorpio`s world.

Scorpio root word, ""S-ker,"" means ""to cut,"" which speaks of the energetic signature of this sign, its capacity to discern and cut through the fog, with the precision of a surgeon. Scorpio also symbolizes the unstoppable death, decay, and transformation process, which explains its intensity, passion, self-determination, and capacity to feel deeply. Scorpio is always keenly aware of the edge between life and death, which propels it to seek and clarify its priorities. The landscape of Scorpio is the dark, deep and obscure water, foundations and pipes, the underworld, and the dimension hidden from sight where secrets and truths can be unburied. The sign is also known for its need for control and power and its tendency to be vengeful, which are the raw and primal expressions of this energy that fears deeply being hurt and controlled.

Scorpio Full Moon teachings

Deep emotional currents are stirred at this Full Moon. Scorpio teaches us to be receptive with a compassionate and humble heart. Hurts, scars, and deep-rooted intergenerational traumas come knocking at the door of our awareness with the strengths of riptides from the ocean depths.

The whole range of human emotions is well-known to Scorpio. In its most evolved expression, this sign encourages us to hold a humble and non-judgemental attitude, for it knows so well that these live within each one of us. Scorpio knows pain and sorrow, jealousy, envy, sadness, grief, power, and shame, that hides in the dark corners and, like a deadly gas, suffocates our light from the inside.

The wise trauma and social justice psychotherapist and author Resmaa Menakem said that ""that rage is anger that has aged."" This feels an apt description for the old guests that might be flooding our inner houses, ghosts unburied by this Full Moon.

To harness this energy, we might not "arm" but nourish ourselves with courage and compassion, slowing down and tending to our wounds, our sorrows, and to those repressed emotions and sensations that arise. (The houses in our charts where Scorpio and Taurus are contained will give a better indication as to where we encounter this tension.) Rather than resist, push them away, as we have been often taught, it is wise to slow down, tend to what this powerful tide is dragging up to our inner shores, and seek help and support if we feel overwhelmed.

By tending, I mean ways in which you might heart&mindfully notice how your inner planets, or parts, are feeling, noticing any sensation that arises in your body. Perhaps you can sense fear as well as grief, or tension in the chest, and or a sense of letting go in the shoulder, or a primal source of energy flowing through you. Many responses might arise as this deep, intense, Scorpionic moonshine a light into the unknown and unseen. As you perhaps hold a hand on your heart, on your belly, welcome it and listen, deeply and with empathy. One of the myths resonating with Scorpio, the tiny and made of soil creatures called ""kalatur"" consoled Ereshkigal, the grieving and suffering queen of the underworld, with simple words and sounds, by acknowledging her pain and mourning with her.

You might also ask yourself: "what needs have gone unheard for so long that this part of me felt this way?" or, "what elicited this place in me to respond in this way?" Or perhaps wonder, "what is this place in me fearful of, or angry about, or hurt?" Scorpio's capacity to investigate can helps us discover what lies hidden. Perhaps there might also fear of not being loved, fear of being abandoned, fear of being vulnerable, fear of being hurt, and for some killed, or fear that has passed along generation after generation.

As you answer aloud or in writing or drawing, allow yourself to notice how your body feels once something is acknowledged and recognized, as well as images that might come to you. Once you have recognized it, heard it, thank it, you might share your finding with a loved one that can offer support and a kind ear, just as you'll do within yourself.

Suppose challenging situations have arisen, such as power struggles, fights. In that case, you might reflect on what you might have done differently had these old guests that took over your inner house had been first heard.

Transformation

Scorpios' energy invites us to transform and release, like the snake that sheds its skin. Humbly let go of pride, judgments, priorities like thick walls, block your inner light and growth. Excavate into the origins of your beliefs, positions, assessments. And kindly recognize that we all have interiorized biases, and this is just one step towards the journey of healing ourselves and our world. Finally, take response-ability for your own behaviors, speak your truth with kindness, apologize if needed, and step with humbleness in your own power. Be mindful of and avoid manipulations, a manifestation of Scorpio's energy and the secretive attempt to have someone doing something for you.

The gift of this Scorpio's lunation is release, burning deception, judgments into the flames, and transforming them in light that illuminates your authentic essence and your actual needs. This energy clears the ways for self-empowerment, for taking action with clarity and integrity and transforming our lives and ourselves in ways that feel more aligned, loving, and authentic with who we are.
